The author

Dr. Marco Matteoli was born in Fondi (LT) in 1984, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Rome "Sapienza" and specialized in Radiodiagnostics also in Rome in 2015. He obtained his second degree in International Cooperation and Development and obtains the title of publicist journalist in 2020.

 

Since 2009 he has been carrying out his voluntary work as a doctor in the Italian Red Cross, mainly through health and humanitarian activities in favor of the homeless, disadvantaged families through subsistence services and in transit camps for immigrants.

 

Passionate about the all-round medical profession, from radiology, to outpatient medicine, to emergency medicine, as a medical officer of the Military Corps and of the civilian component of the Italian Red Cross he has participated in various Italian and foreign missions: the Abruzzo earthquake of 2009, Mare Nostrum operation in 2014 and Triton operation in 2015. It also supported the Italian Navy medical team on the Cavour aircraft carrier during the circumnavigation of Africa in the 30th naval group Italy on the move operation; in 2015 and 2016 he participated in the Resolute Support operation in Afghanistan as a medical officer of the field hospital and as a control officer and  purification of the water supply chain in the Herat military camp.

 

In 2017 he also worked as a doctor for migrants at the Italian Red Cross Hub in Rome, as well as carrying out his freelance activity as a radiologist and his voluntary activity on the road.
